While performing and writing with his own band, Sir Cadian Rhythm, Micah is also very busy in the musical theatre world having toured on land and sea with many different shows including Rock of Ages, Shrek the Musical, and Off-Broadway's Bayside the Musical to name a few. Micah created trash camp as a way to blend percussion, improv, and dance to create a truly unique style of performance and expression that kids of all ages can use to help build confidence and focus in the audition room. Real drumming techniques are used to allow the student to improve to a tempo set by another instrument and to create music using every part of their body or any object found in the room; very similar to that of the show STOMP! The goal is to create an original piece of music and dance that is 100% original that can then be showcased for parents at the end of the 8-week program. Every kid will walk away with not only improv and listening skills, but real drumming technique that is extremely useful nowadays with shows that are requiring quadruple threats (School of Rock, Once, etc.) We choose to have fun without judgment or grades; just drum sticks, claps, and a listening eager ear!
