  • Do I have to sign up or reserve a slot for myself, or my child in order to ensure space for them in class?

There is no sign up for any of our weekly drop-in classes, the more the merrier! Just show up, take class, and most of all, have fun! However, if we have any intensives or special workshops, we will update this site, send out email notices, tweets, and facebook updates, ensuring that you will have any and all information needed to sign up in advance!

  • What if I have to cancel?

We understand that from time to time things come up, but if you cancel your lesson less than 24 hours in advance you will be charged for the full lesson. If you are able to cancel before the deadline in your confirmation email you will not be charged!

  • How do I know what class level would be appropriate for myself or my child?

Please feel free to schedule a private lesson anytime with one of our teachers, and know that we will assess what level would be appropriate. For any class listed as "beginner" or "open/ multi-level" feel free to come if you have only taken a couple of classes or this is completely new to you and something, you have always wanted to try! We cater to all ages, and everyone's individual needs, so even if you find yourself in the middle of a class that feels a bit advanced for you, don't stress! There is nothing like a good challenge, and there is no judgment. We promise that we will find the right class for you together!

  • What clothing and footwear are most appropriate for class?

Whatever makes you most comfortable! You'll want to wear flexible clothing of course, and if you have long hair, make sure it is pulled back. If you are a beginner tapper, non-heeled tap shoes are preferred. Everyday sneakers work best for hip hop, and for theatre dance, we always warm up in barefeet or socks and/or foot undeez, moving into jazz shoes or jazz sneakers for the remainder of class.

  • Where can I stay while my child is in classes/privates?

We are always happy to see all of you, but for the safety of you and your children we ask you to please remain in the waiting room, centrally located at Open Jar Studios, while your child is in class. PLEASE keep the hallway near the dance studios clear on Saturdays!

  • Can I take pictures/videos or use my cell phone?

ABSOLUTELY NO VIDEO TAPING OR PHOTOGRAPHY of any class, private or choreography is allowed. Please no cell phone usage in the classroom because it is a distraction to the teacher and the lesson.
